Dara Rasheed, Deputy Minister for Housing, Construction and Municipalities discusses strategies for restoration and development in Iraq, explaining the three key stages to reconstruct areas affected by terrorist operations. Including the immediate need to provide basic health, education and housing services, the subsequent need to rebuild homes and repair the social fabric and lastly to ensure the heritage and cultural sites are repaired. Mr Rasheed explains the monumental task facing Iraqis in rebuilding a country afflicted by more than 30 years of war and dictatorship, and implores the international community to assist in the rebuilding process.
