Shwan talks about 2019 being an inflection point for Iraq – a new active government was just elected at the end of last year, oil prices are steadily holding up and the pressing security issues that threatened Iraq have receded, notably after the defeat of ISIS. Shwan explains how Rabee Securities is participating in Iraq’s new recovery phase, encouraging investment in the country, specially foreign portfolio investment. He also provides an overview of the state’s investment landscape – investments are small compared to Iraq’s economy and its needs, and the Government and the public sector are the main recipients. Shwan emphasizes that Rabee Securities’ main focus is in the private sector and the development of fundamental elements inherent to any modern economy.
